be clear on cancer aims to help improve early diagnosis of cancer by raising awareness of symptoms and encouraging people to see their gp without delay. why focus on woman over 70? breast cancer survival is lower in older woman and research shows they are more likely to delay presenting to their gp with breast cancer symptoms. knowledge of non-lump breast cancer symptoms is often lower amongst older women and awareness of age-related risk is poorly understood. 1 in 3 women who get breast cancer are over 70. a lump isn't the only sign of breast cancer and that women over 70 should tell their doctor if the notice any changes to their breasts. pre chemotherapy bloods requested by secondary care i would like to make you aware of the south bristol general practice policy regarding the taking of chemotherapy blood tests. the practice does not undertake blood tests for the hospital unless they are part of specified ongoing treatments involving inrs for warfarin management, methotrexate or one of a very limited number of drugs prescribed by gps under specific shared care advice from consultants. all tests that are required by the hospital must be undertaken by the hospital and you should be booked in to see a hospital phlebotomist. why is this?
